Attractions

Luna Park
The most famous of the Park’s attractions is its Roller Coaster – The Great Scenic Railway, a large wooden coaster that projects its passengers, at high speed, around the outside of the entire Park. It boasts the title of being the oldest continually operating wooden roller coaster in the world and the only one of its kind with a standing brakeman (person!) in control aboard its moving carriages. This world-famous roller coaster will not only provide you with heart-stopping dips and turns but also the most stunning views of Port Phillip Bay St. Kilda has to offer.
The park has continued to evolve over the years with a generous mix of heritage-listed attractions and new thrill rides to satisfy all thrill seekers. Luna Park Melbourne continues to reign supreme as the ultimate destination for thrill-seekers and fun-lovers alike.

Palais Theatre
The Palais Theatre, formerly known as Palais Pictures, is a historic picture palace located in St Kilda, an inner suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. With a capacity of nearly 3,000 people, it is the largest seated theatre in Australia [citation needed].
Replacing an earlier cinema of the same name destroyed in a fire, the new theatre, designed by Henry Eli White, opened in 1927. Sitting adjacent to Luna Park, it helped to establish the St Kilda beach foreshore as an entertainment precinct, and remains an iconic landmark in the area. From the 1950s, it became primarily a live entertainment venue, and hosting ballet performances, operas, stand-up comedy shows and big name acts.
The Palais is included on the Victorian Heritage Register, and in 2015, it was inducted into the Music Victoria Hall of Fame.

St Kila Pier
Offering panoramic views of the Melbourne skyline and Port Phillip, St Kilda Pier and Breakwater is a popular destination for a stroll and fishing. While on the pier enjoy a snack from the heritage kiosk or try to spot the penguins and rakali (native water rats) from the breakwater.
St Kilda Pier dates back to the mid 1800’s as an early working jetty. The breakwater was later constructed for the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, as a safe harbour for sailing events. You may notice the start tower at the end of the Breakwater, still in use to this day.
St Kilda Breakwater is home to a colony of Little Penguins. The isolation of the breakwater is an ideal location for them to live.
As piers and jetties are within a natural environment, you may encounter hazards. Follow our water safety advice to make sure your day out at St Kilda Pier and Breakwater is a safe and enjoyable one. Jumping and diving off the pier, breakwater and other structures is prohibited for public safety, due to shallow areas and often unexpected submerged objects.
Fishing, dogs and cats are prohibited on the breakwater at all times.
